Chapter 94 - MY FATHER'S LAST MOVE

My father was waiting at the bank.

He stood alone in the private lobby.

No lawyers.

No guards.

No security team.

Just him.

When I entered, he looked older than I remembered.

“Emily.”

“What did you do?”

“I transferred the remaining funds.”

“Where?”

“To a humanitarian trust.”

I stopped.

“What?”

He handed me a document.

Every remaining account connected to The Circle had been transferred into a new foundation.

Its name was simple.

THE REED FOUNDATION.

I looked at him.

“Why?”

“Because I finally understood your mother.”

“What did she want?”

“She wanted the money to stop controlling people.”

He looked at Noah.

“She wanted it to become useful.”

I stared at the document.

“You could have told me.”

“I was afraid.”

“Of what?”

“That once you knew the truth, you'd hate me.”

I laughed bitterly.

“You murdered my mother.”

His face collapsed.

“I didn't.”

I froze.

“What?”

“I gave the order to hide her.”

“That's not better.”

“No.”

He looked down.

“But I didn't order her death.”

“Then who did?”

He hesitated.

“Richard.”

I turned toward the door.

Richard was standing there.

My father looked at him.

“You should have stayed dead.”

Richard smiled.

“You should have stayed silent.”

My father stepped forward.

Richard pulled a gun.

Everything happened at once.

Julian grabbed Noah.

Eleanor moved toward me.

A shot echoed through the lobby.

My father fell.

“Dad!”

I ran toward him.

Blood spread across his shirt.

He grabbed my hand.

“Don't chase Richard.”

“Why?”

“He wants you angry.”

His breathing became shallow.

“Your mother left something for you.”

“What?”

He looked toward the vault.

“Not money.”

His eyes closed.

I shook him.

“Dad!”

He whispered one final sentence.

“She left you the truth.”

Then he stopped moving.

I looked up.

Richard was gone.

But on the marble floor, he had left one thing behind.

A photograph of my mother.

On the back were four words.

SHE NEVER DIED ALONE.
