Chapter 49 - THE ORIGINAL TRUST

We returned home.

My father sat across from me.

He explained everything.

Eleanor had created the trust when my father was young.

She intended to use it to control the family's assets.

But my grandfather discovered her plan.

He secretly changed the beneficiaries.

Instead of Eleanor, the trust would eventually belong to Noah.

That was why she had spent decades trying to regain control.

“She never wanted the money,” my father said.

I frowned.

“Then what did she want?”

“Power.”

Julian looked at him.

“Over the family?”

“Over everyone.”

My father nodded.

“She wanted every person dependent on her.”

“And the wedding?”

“She used Victoria's identity to enter Julian's family.”

“Why Julian?”

“Because she needed someone close to Noah.”

I understood.

She had planned everything.

My divorce.

The wedding.

The humiliation.

The forged documents.

The kidnapping.

Everything.

But then my father said:

“There was one thing she couldn't control.”

“What?”

“Love.”

He looked at Julian.

“Your husband loved you.”

Julian looked down.

“I didn't show it when it mattered.”

“But eventually you did.”

I looked at him.

For the first time, I realized that Julian had spent months repairing the damage he had caused.

Not with promises.

With actions.

Then my father placed a document on the table.

“The trust can finally be transferred.”

“To Noah?”

“Yes.”

“Then it's over.”

My father shook his head.

“No.”

“What?”

“The final beneficiary is not Noah.”

I stared at him.

“Then who?”

May you like

He turned the document around.

My name was written there.
