Chapter 77 - NOAH

We returned home immediately.

Noah was asleep.

I sat beside his bed.

He looked peaceful.

I touched his hair.

Julian stood in the doorway.

“I'll protect him.”

I looked at him.

“We both will.”

Then Noah opened his eyes.

“Mom?”

“Yes?”

“Who's Lucas?”

My blood ran cold.

“Where did you hear that name?”

He pointed beneath his pillow.

There was a small card.

A black circle.

A silver line.

The symbol of The Circle.

On the back was one sentence.

YOUR FATHER HAS A BROTHER.

Noah looked at us.

“Is he bad?”

I forced myself to stay calm.

“We don't know yet.”

Julian took the card.

He turned it over.

There was another message.

COME TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU WERE BORN.

Julian stared.

“I was born in this city.”

Clara called.

“Not according to The Circle.”

“What do you mean?”

“Your birth certificate was changed.”

I looked at Julian.

“Then where were you born?”

Clara answered:

“At the old Vance clinic.”

The clinic had been abandoned for twenty years.

My grandfather had owned it.

And it was where my father had supposedly first met Elena.

Julian looked at me.

“We're going.”

I nodded.

But before we left, Noah grabbed my hand.

“Mom.”

“What?”

“Don't go.”

“Why?”

He looked toward the window.

“Because the man outside is watching us.”

We turned.

A black car was parked across the street.

May you like

A man stood beside it.

He looked exactly like Julian.
