Chapter 90 - THE FOUNDER

We stood in silence.

Noah held my hand.

Julian stood beside us.

Elena finally appeared from the corridor.

Her face was covered in tears.

“You ended it.”

I nodded.

“Did I?”

She looked at the wall.

“No.”

The final message remained.

THE FOUNDER IS STILL ALIVE.

I looked at Eleanor.

She had returned.

She was standing at the end of the corridor.

But she wasn't alone.

An old man stood beside her.

White hair.

Black coat.

A cane in one hand.

I had never seen him before.

Yet Julian recognized him.

His face went pale.

“That's impossible.”

I looked at him.

“Who is he?”

Julian couldn't answer.

The old man smiled.

“My name is Richard Vance.”

Julian stepped backward.

“My grandfather died twenty-five years ago.”

Richard smiled.

“That is what I wanted everyone to believe.”

I looked at Eleanor.

She lowered her eyes.

“You knew?”

“Yes.”

“And my father?”

“He knew.”

“And my mother?”

Richard's smile disappeared.

“She knew too much.”

I felt Noah move closer to me.

Richard looked at him.

Then at me.

“You made a mistake tonight.”

“What mistake?”

“You believed The Circle was the enemy.”

He stepped forward.

“The Circle was only the shield.”

“Shielding what?”

He looked toward the floor.

“Me.”

The lights came back on.

Every screen displayed the same symbol.

Then a new title appeared.

THE ORIGINAL FOUNDER.

Richard looked directly at me.

“Emily Reed, you have inherited the Circle.”

I shook my head.

“I destroyed it.”

“No.”

He smiled.

“You destroyed the organization.”

Then he pointed toward Noah.

“But you activated the bloodline.”

My heart stopped.

Noah looked at me.

“Mom?”

Richard continued.

“The real inheritance was never money.”

He tapped his cane against the floor.

A hidden door opened behind him.

Inside was a room filled with thousands of files.

Names.

Photographs.

Contracts.

Secrets.

Everything The Circle had ever collected.

Richard looked at me.

“And now that you have destroyed the Circle…”

He smiled.

“…every secret belongs to you.”

I stared into the room.

For the first time, I understood.

The story had never been about surviving The Circle.

It had been about deciding what to do after inheriting everything it had spent generations hiding.

Julian took my hand.

Noah stood between us.

I looked at the endless files.

Then I said the only thing I knew for certain.

“This ends with me.”

Richard's smile vanished.

“No, Emily.”

May you like

He looked at Noah.

“It begins with him.”
