Chapter 86 - THE WOMAN WHO CHOSE JULIAN

Victoria looked nothing like the woman from the wedding photographs.

Her expensive dress was gone.

Her hair was tied back.

Her expression was cold.

She looked at Julian.

Then at me.

Then at Eleanor.

“You found her.”

Eleanor didn't move.

“You knew where I was.”

Victoria smiled.

“I always did.”

Julian stepped forward.

“You lied to me.”

Victoria looked at him.

“You wanted to believe me.”

“That doesn't answer the question.”

“No.”

She looked at me.

“Emily, give me the key.”

I tightened my hand around it.

“No.”

“You don't understand what it opens.”

“Then explain.”

“It opens the room where your entire family's history is stored.”

Eleanor laughed quietly.

“She means the room where her crimes are recorded.”

Victoria's expression hardened.

“Your grandmother doesn't know everything.”

“Then tell me.”

Victoria looked at Julian.

“Your father ordered the first elimination.”

Julian froze.

“My father?”

“Yes.”

“Who did he kill?”

Victoria looked at me.

“Your mother.”

My heart stopped.

“No.”

Eleanor's face changed.

“Don't.”

Victoria smiled.

“She was never in that accident.”

I stared at Eleanor.

She couldn't look at me.

“Tell me she's lying.”

Eleanor whispered:

“She's not.”

The room seemed to tilt.

My mother had not died in an accident.

She had been murdered.

And my father had known.

I looked at him.

He stood in the doorway.

He had followed us.

His face was destroyed by guilt.

“Emily…”

I stepped backward.

“Don't.”

He stopped.

Then Victoria said something that made everyone silent.

“Your mother wasn't the real target.”

I looked at her.

“Then who was?”

May you like

Victoria's eyes moved toward Noah.

“The child.”
