Chapter 51 - West Coast Arrival

The private Gulfstream jet touched down smoothly at San Francisco International Airport under the crisp, golden light of an October afternoon. Waiting on the tarmac was a convoy of matte-black luxury sedans, their tinted windows reflecting the sparkling waters of the San Francisco Bay.
As we stepped out of the aircraft, the cool Pacific breeze welcomed us. Eva and Lily were practically vibrating with excitement, chattering endlessly about visiting the Golden Gate Bridge and touring the Stanford campus where Marcus had spent his undergraduate years.
Our convoy transported us directly to a luxury boutique hotel overlooking the San Francisco waterfront. The penthouse suites had been fully secured by Viktor’s advance security detail, ensuring complete privacy and safety. That evening, Marcus sat at his desk reviewing his keynote presentation slides, while the girls eagerly explored the hotel's panoramic balcony.
I walked into Marcus’s suite holding two cups of green tea, handing one to him as he adjusted a slide graphic illustrating decentralized community energy grids.
"How's the speech shaping up?" I asked, leaning against the glass sliding door.
"It's solid," Marcus replied, taking a sip of the warm tea. "I'm focusing on how technology should be used to lift communities out of isolation—connecting people the way we connected your estate to the world, and the way the foundation connects underprivileged kids to education."
"That's the best message you could possibly deliver," I said, smiling proudly. "Because you're living proof that technology and human kindness combined can rewrite anyone's destiny."

The next morning arrived with brilliant sunshine streaming across the San Francisco skyline. The Silicon Summit convention center was packed to capacity with thousands of software engineers, venture capitalists, technology executives, and international journalists.
As the conference chairman stepped up to the podium to introduce the keynote speaker, the auditorium fell into respectful silence.
