Chapter 50 - The Silicon Summit Invitation

The crisp morning air of early autumn brought with it a prestigious invitation that arrived via courier at our estate gates. It was a thick, embossed envelope bearing the official gold seal of the Global Technology and Innovation Summit held annually in San Francisco, California.

Marcus sat at the patio table in the courtyard, sliding the formal letter out of its envelope. His eyes scanned the embossed calligraphy: “Dr. Marcus Vance-Gomez is hereby cordially invited to deliver the keynote address at the annual Silicon Summit, honoring pioneering advancements in ethical artificial intelligence and decentralized community infrastructure.”

I walked over, pouring myself a fresh cup of coffee, and glanced over his shoulder. "A keynote address at the Silicon Summit. Well, look at you, kid. From breaking past perimeter sensors with taped-up sneakers to commanding the stage in front of the tech world's elite."

Marcus chuckled, folding the letter neatly and placing it back on the table. "It feels surreal, Boss. When I first started working on those predictive algorithms, I just wanted to build a better way to manage data. I never imagined standing on an international stage representing everything we've built through the foundation."

"You earned every single word of that invitation," I said firmly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You're going to knock it out of the park. And naturally, the entire family is flying out to California to watch you in the front row."

"You don't have to charter a private jet just for a speech," Marcus protested playfully.

"Nonsense," Viktor chimed in as he walked across the courtyard carrying a tablet with security manifests. "The private jet is already prepped, and our West Coast security detail has secured the entire convention center perimeter. Nobody is interrupting this keynote."

Marcus shook his head with a fond smile, knowing there was no use arguing against Damian and Viktor's protective instincts. The journey from the cold, starving Chicago tenements to the pinnacle of global tech leadership had been paved with hardship, but looking at how far they had all come, every single trial had been worth it.
