Chapter 45 - the day i finally sold the house

The old family house was no longer ours.
The foundation owned it now.
I stood in the empty hallway before signing the final papers.
Julian was beside me.
Leo was outside.
I looked around.
This was where I had once cried.
Where I had discovered lies.
Where I had wondered whether my entire life had been fake.
Now the same rooms would shelter strangers who needed somewhere safe.
Julian touched my shoulder.
“You okay?”
“Yes.”
“You sure?”
I smiled.
“I think I'm finally letting it go.”
He nodded.
We walked outside.
Leo was waiting.
“What took so long?”
I looked back at the house.
“Goodbye.”
“To what?”
I smiled.
“To the version of me who lived there.”
Leo understood.
May you like
He didn't ask anything else.
