Chapter 15 - The Truth

Julian cooperated.

He turned over passwords.

Bank records.

Private messages.

Emails.

He gave investigators everything he had.

Richard did not.

That decision changed the case.

The evidence connected Richard to multiple fraudulent transactions.

Julian was charged for his participation.

But because he cooperated fully, the investigators uncovered the entire structure.

His wife attended the hearings.

Not because she wanted revenge.

Because she wanted closure.

Chloe also testified.

She admitted she had known Julian was married.

She admitted she had believed his lies about the divorce.

She accepted responsibility for her part.

The case became public.

Julian's reputation collapsed.

His company survived under new leadership.

His wife became the majority shareholder.

She refused to sell.

Instead, she rebuilt the company.

Marcus stayed.

Daniel became an adviser.

The old financial structure was dismantled.

Months passed.

One afternoon, Leo visited his father.

Julian was staying in a modest apartment while waiting for sentencing.

The boy carried a small envelope.

Julian opened the door.

“Hi, buddy.”

Leo nodded.

“Mom said I could visit.”

Julian stepped aside.

They sat at the kitchen table.

Leo placed the envelope down.

“What is it?”

Julian opened it.

Inside was a photograph of the family from years earlier.

Before everything broke.

Julian stared at it.

“I remember this.”

Leo nodded.

“Mom said you should keep it.”

Julian looked at him.

“Why?”

“Because you're still my dad.”

Julian's eyes filled with tears.

He wiped them quickly.

“I don't deserve you.”

Leo shook his head.

“You're still supposed to be my dad.”

Julian looked at his son.

For the first time, he understood that forgiveness was not the same as escaping consequences.

Leo stood.

“Dad?”

“Yes?”

“I don't want you to lie anymore.”

Julian nodded.

“I won't.”
