Chapter 36 - the day julian got his name back

Julian had been living quietly for years.
Then he received an offer.
A small investment company wanted him as an adviser.
He almost rejected it.
“They know my history.”
I told him:
“Then they know exactly who they're hiring.”
He laughed.
“That's not comforting.”
“It isn't supposed to be.”
He accepted.
The job was modest.
But it was legitimate.
He worked hard.
He disclosed his history to the partners.
No secrets.
No excuses.
No hidden accounts.
One evening, he called me.
“I got promoted.”
I smiled.
“Congratulations.”
“I wanted to tell Leo first.”
“Then tell him.”
He did.
Leo was proud.
Not because his father had become wealthy again.
Because his father had earned something honestly.

That difference mattered.
