Chapter 12 - The Warehouse

The next morning, Julian's wife did not go to the warehouse alone.

She brought Daniel.

Marcus came too.

Leo stayed with his grandmother.

Julian remained at the house under the supervision of his attorney.

The warehouse stood at the edge of the city.

Dust covered the floor.

Old shelves lined the walls.

Daniel led them to a locked metal cabinet.

The key was taped beneath a wooden desk.

Inside were boxes.

One contained financial records.

Another contained photographs.

The final box was labeled:

FOR MY DAUGHTER.

She opened it.

Inside was a letter.

Her father's voice seemed to return through every word.

He explained that Julian had been manipulating company finances.

He had discovered money disappearing through consulting firms.

He had confronted Richard.

But Julian had already become dependent on Richard's network.

The letter contained one final warning.

If Julian ever turns against you, do not fight him alone. The board must see the original records.

Marcus read the documents.

His expression changed.

“These prove everything.”

Daniel shook his head.

“Not everything.”

He pulled out one more folder.

Inside were bank records connecting Richard directly to the shell companies.

And another name.

Julian.

But beside Julian's name was a handwritten note.

He is not the architect.

Her wife stared.

“What does that mean?”

Daniel answered:

“Julian was greedy.”

He looked toward the papers.

“But Richard built the structure.”

Marcus looked shocked.

“Then why did Julian go along with it?”

Daniel sighed.

“Because Richard convinced him that once he controlled the company, nobody could touch him.”

She closed the folder.

“So Julian wasn't the mastermind.”

“No.”

“But he still participated.”

“Yes.”

She nodded.

“That is enough.”

They returned to the ballroom that evening.

The board assembled.

The evidence was presented.

Julian sat silently.

Richard Cole was summoned.

He arrived with a confident smile.

Then he saw the boxes.

The smile disappeared.
