Chapter 9 - THE CONFESSION
Sophia listened as Matteo told her everything.
She covered her mouth.
“I remember that ring.”
“Whose was it?”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“Vincent Romano.”
Matteo sat completely still.
His uncle had spent years presenting himself as a grieving brother.
A loyal businessman.
A trusted member of the family.
Sophia began crying.
“I saw him that night. Your father confronted him in the warehouse.”
“Why?”
“He discovered Vincent was stealing from the company.”
Matteo looked away.
The truth finally connected every missing piece.
The fire.
The forged records.
Sophia’s poisoning.
The attack on Emma.
Vincent had spent twenty years eliminating anyone who could expose him.
Matteo stood.
Then he made one phone call.
“Bring Vincent to the estate.”
Sophia grabbed his wrist.
“Don’t do anything reckless.”
Matteo looked at her.
“I’m not going to hurt him.”
