Chapter 22 - SOPHIA'S CHOICE
Sophia received an unexpected offer from a prestigious hospitality company.
The salary was nearly three times what Matteo paid her.
She considered it for several days.
Matteo noticed.
“Would you like to leave?”
Sophia looked embarrassed.
“I don't want you to think I'm ungrateful.”
“I would never.”
“I want something for myself.”
Matteo smiled.
“Then you should take it.”
Sophia stared at him.
“You're not angry?”
“No.”
“Even if you leave the estate?”
He shook his head.
“You saved this house. That doesn't mean you owe it your entire life.”
Sophia's eyes filled with tears.
Years ago, she had believed survival meant staying where she was tolerated.
Now she understood survival was not the same as living.
She accepted the offer.
But she remained close to Matteo and Emma.
Her new position allowed her to manage multiple estates while building a secure future for her daughter.
When Emma heard the news, she wasn't sad.
She hugged her mother.
