Chapter 14 - The Architect of Pain

The files on the USB drive took three hours for Lucas’s top hacker to crack. When the loading bar finally hit 100%, Lucas sat staring at the glowing screen in absolute silence. Hannah hadn't been killed just because she had the ghost card. The files were hospital records, banking transfers, and offshore accounts. Hannah, working the night shift at the Cicero hospital, had stumbled onto a massive underground organ-trafficking ring using the hospital as a front. And the name at the very top of the money trail wasn't Sergei Volkov. It was Victor Sterling. The Volkovs were just the muscle. Sterling was the architect. Sterling was the one who had ordered the hit on the nurse who knew too much. Vance stood behind Lucas, reading the screen. The massive bodyguard slowly unholstered his weapon. "Give the word, boss," Vance growled. "I’ll march into Sterling’s house right now and burn him in his bed." Lucas didn't move. The rage inside him was so absolute, so blinding, it felt like poison in his veins. He had killed the dogs that bit Hannah, but he had left the master holding the leash. "No," Lucas said softly. "Death in his sleep is too much of a mercy. He took her mother. I am going to take everything from him, and then I will take his life."
