Chapter 32 - Forever Moretti

The grand ballroom of the Moretti estate was filled with the soft strains of a string quartet, the scent of white roses, and the laughter of close friends and family gathered to celebrate a milestone five years in the making. There were no mob bosses in attendance, no corrupt politicians, and no syndicate capos—only doctors from the clinic, university professors from Northwestern, and the people who mattered most. Leo stood near the mahogany bar, proudly holding a sparkling cider glass as he prepared to toast his sister. In the center of the polished marble floor, Ellie stood wearing a stunning, elegant white lace gown that caught the chandelier light, her hand resting comfortably in Damien’s. He wore a classic tailored black tuxedo, looking less like a feared kingpin and more like a man who had finally found his peace. As the music swelled gently around them, Damien pulled her closer, his dark eyes shining with an intensity that took her breath away just as it had on the very first day they met. "Forever, Ellie," he murmured against her lips as he kissed her. "Forever, Damien," she whispered back, as the doors to the terrace opened wide to let in the brilliant, golden light of their new beginning.
