Chapter 24 - The Moretti Legacy

Five years later.

The Moretti estate was no longer just a fortress of power and shadow; it was a home filled with life, laughter, and the bright, chaotic energy of a family that had survived the storm and emerged victorious.

In the sunlit gardens near the grand fountains, a sixteen-year-old Leo—now fully recovered, athletic, and studying pre-med at Northwestern—was kicking a soccer ball around with two energetic golden retrievers while shouting sports statistics across the lawn.

Inside the grand library, the double doors stood wide open.

Ellie sat at the large oak desk, reviewing medical foundation grants and architectural blueprints for a new pediatric care clinic funded entirely by the Moretti Philanthropic Trust—a legitimate, multi-million-dollar health initiative that provided free surgical care to families who couldn't afford it.

Footsteps echoed softly across the hardwood floor.

Strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a warm, solid chest. A soft kiss brushed against the side of her neck.

“You’ve been staring at those blueprints for three hours, Dr. Moretti,” Damien murmured, his voice rich with affection as he rested his chin on her shoulder. He had stepped back from the day-to-day syndicate operations years ago, transitioning the empire entirely into legitimate global logistics and philanthropy, leaving behind the dark rumors of the underworld for a legacy built on light and protection.

Ellie leaned back against him, smiling as she turned in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck and looking up into the face of the man who had changed her universe forever.

“I’m just making sure the surgical wing is properly designed,” Ellie laughed softly, tapping his nose with her pen. “Can’t have the next generation of doctors working in a poorly organized space.”

Damien smiled, his dark eyes shining with a deep, unbreakable adoration. He reached up, gently tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

“You’ve built an incredible hospital, Ellie. Just like you built this family,” Damien whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Every time I look at you, I remember that rainy night five years ago when you walked into my life like a force of nature, carrying nothing but a stethoscope, a pile of medical debt, and an unbreakable heart.”

“And look where we are now,” Ellie whispered, leaning in closer.

“Where we belong,” Damien answered softly before pressing his lips to hers in a deep, tender kiss as the afternoon sun poured through the high windows, illuminating the magnificent legacy they had built together.
