"Tariq, she's a thief!" Elena cried out, playing the part of the concerned guest perfectly.
Tariq pulled his phone from his pocket, his eyes dark and merciless as he pulled up the mansion's security feed.
He projected the video onto the large presentation screen on the main stage.
The footage clearly showed Elena picking the lock to the study, taking the necklace, and slipping it into her own clutch purse.
The entire ballroom gasped in shock as Elena's face drained of all color.
"Security," Tariq said, his voice deadly calm. "Call the police, have this woman arrested, and ensure she never works in this city again."
As Elena was dragged out screaming and crying, Tariq turned his back on the chaotic crowd.
He looked down at Chloe, who was trembling from the adrenaline.
He gently reached out, cupping her cheek with a tenderness that contrasted sharply with the monster he was to everyone else.
"Did you really think I would doubt you for a single second?" he murmured, his thumb brushing her skin.
"I didn't know," Chloe whispered, a tear slipping down her face. "I'm just a nobody from the clinic."
"You are everything," Tariq corrected fiercely, pulling her flush against his chest.
