Chapter 12 - The Uncle's Arrival

The following morning, the Al-Farsi estate was transformed into an armed fortress.
Chloe kept Samira close, reading to her in the secure library while guards patrolled the gardens.
Tariq was in his study, tearing apart global financial records to find out who benefited from his brother's death.
Around noon, the heavy iron gates of the estate buzzed frantically.
A convoy of black SUVs, not belonging to Tariq, aggressively demanded entry.
Tariq strode into the foyer, his posture radiating lethal dominance.
The doors opened, and a man who looked like an older, crueler version of Tariq walked in.
"Uncle Malik," Tariq growled, not offering his hand.
Malik smiled thinly, his eyes immediately scanning the room until they landed on Chloe and little Samira peering from the library doors.
"I came as soon as I heard the tragic news about the investigation," Malik said, his voice dripping with false sympathy.
"I also came to collect my grand-niece."
Chloeâs blood ran cold, and she instinctively pulled Samira behind her legs.
"Samira stays with me," Tariq stated, taking a step forward to block Malik's view.

"You are an unfit guardian, Tariq, surrounded by enemies and married to a common nurse," Malik sneered.
Tariqâs fists clenched, his jaw ticking with a murderous fury.
