Chapter 28 - The Awakening

The tires of the SUV screeched on the gravel driveway of the Al-Farsi estate.
Tariq sprinted up the grand staircase, bursting into the master bedroom with the specialized medical cooler in his hands.
The doctors immediately administered the antiviral medication intravenously, praying they were not too late.
Tariq collapsed into a chair beside the bed, burying his face in his hands, completely drained of all energy.
For the next ten hours, the entire mansion held its breath.
Samira sat outside the bedroom door, clutching her teddy bear, while little Zayn slept in his nannyâs arms.
As the sun began to rise, casting a golden glow over the room, Tariq felt a faint movement against his palm.
He snapped his head up, his dark eyes wide with desperate hope.
Chloeâs eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes, the terrifying fever finally broken.
She looked at Tariq, noticing his ruined suit, his messy hair, and the unshed tears shining in his eyes.
"You look terrible, Mr. Al-Farsi," she whispered, her voice raspy but full of life.
Tariq let out a choked sob, falling to his knees and pressing his face against her chest just to hear her heartbeat.
"Never do that to me again," he pleaded, his broad shoulders shaking with relief.

"I'm not going anywhere," Chloe smiled, stroking his dark hair gently.
The storm had passed, and the tyrant who had tried to destroy them was completely utterly vanquished.
