Chapter 6 - The Culture Clash

Weeks turned into a month, and the dynamic in the cold mansion began to shift dramatically.
Chloe treated Samira not as a patient, but as a traumatized child who just needed a safe harbor.
Slowly, Samira began to smile, and then, a few days later, she finally spoke her first word to Chloe.
Tariq was in his home office when he heard the faint sound of giggling echoing down the hallway.
He abandoned a multi-billion dollar merger call and walked toward the sound, completely mesmerized.
He found Chloe and Samira in the kitchen, covered in flour, attempting to bake chocolate chip cookies.
Chloe had flour on her nose, her hair tied in a messy bun, laughing brightly at something the little girl did.
Tariq leaned against the doorframe, unable to tear his eyes away from the beautiful, chaotic scene.
"You're making a mess of my immaculate kitchen," he rumbled, though there was no real anger in his tone.
Chloe gasped, spinning around, but Samira surprised them both by running over and grabbing Tariq's tailored trousers.
"Uncle Tariq, cookie!" the little girl demanded.
Tariq froze. It was the first time she had acknowledged him in months.
He slowly knelt down, not caring about the flour getting on his suit, and took the messy, half-baked cookie from her hand.
He took a bite, looking directly into Chloe's eyes as he chewed.
"It's perfect," he said softly, and Chloe felt a sudden, intense flutter in her stomach.

The boundaries between employer and employee were beginning to blur dangerously.
Tariq realized he wasn't just grateful to Chloe; he was becoming utterly captivated by her.
