Chapter 8 - The Sabotage
Elena was not a woman who accepted defeat easily.
If she couldn't intimidate Chloe, she was going to destroy her reputation.
A week later, Tariq hosted a massive charity gala at the estate, a necessity for his corporate image.
Chloe was supposed to stay upstairs with Samira, but the little girl fell asleep early.
Tariq had left a stunning, emerald-green silk dress on Chloe's bed with a note requesting her presence downstairs.
She nervously descended the grand staircase, looking breathtakingly beautiful, turning the heads of every billionaire in the room.
Tariq met her at the bottom of the stairs, completely breathless as he offered her his arm.
But the magical evening was abruptly shattered when an alarm blared from Tariq's private study.
Security rushed in to find the safe open, and a priceless diamond necklace missing.
Elena stepped out from the crowd, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.
"I saw the nurse sneaking out of the study just ten minutes ago," Elena declared loudly for all to hear.
The ballroom erupted in whispers as security guards cautiously approached Chloe.
"Check her room," Elena demanded triumphantly.
Chloe felt her heart drop, realizing she was being framed, terrified that Tariq would believe the lie.
She looked at Tariq, her eyes begging him to trust her.
