The mercenary sneered, stepping closer and reaching out to grab the child.
Chloe didn't scream or beg.
Instead, she grabbed a heavy, antique bronze vase from the hallway pedestal and swung it with all her might.
It cracked against the man's head, sending him stumbling backward just long enough for Chloe to punch the code into the door.
She dragged Samira inside and slammed the heavy steel door shut, engaging the locks.
Outside in the courtyard, Tariq had transformed entirely into the ruthless monster the financial world feared.
He didn't just hide behind his guards; he led them.
Within ten minutes, Malik's disorganized mercenaries were completely neutralized and pinned to the ground.
Tariq walked through the settling smoke, his expensive suit ruined, his eyes locked onto one man.
Malik was trying to crawl away toward the breached gate.
Tariq stepped on his uncle's hand, pinning him to the gravel.
"The police are on their way, uncle," Tariq growled, dropping the leather diary onto Malik's chest.
