Chapter 7 - The Viper's Nest

Not everyone was thrilled with the new, sunny addition to the Al-Farsi household.
Elena, Tariq's ruthless and glamorous ex-fiancée, had been trying to claw her way back into his life for months.
She arrived unannounced at the estate one afternoon, demanding to see Tariq.
Instead, she found Chloe in the garden, braiding Samira's hair in the sunshine.
Elena scoffed, looking Chloe up and down with absolute disgust.
"So, you're the little charity case Tariq picked up off a commercial flight," Elena sneered, crossing her arms.
Chloe stood her ground, pulling Samira behind her to shield the child from the woman's toxic energy.
"I am Samira's nurse, and you are trespassing," Chloe said calmly, refusing to be intimidated.
Elena stepped closer, her eyes flashing with pure malice.
"Don't get too comfortable, little nurse. Tariq only keeps broken things around until he gets bored of them."
"Then it's a good thing I'm not broken," Chloe shot back, her chin held high.
Elena laughed bitterly, stepping forward to grab Chloe's arm.
Before her manicured fingers could even make contact, a massive hand wrapped around Elena's wrist like a steel vice.
Tariq had appeared from the shadows of the terrace, his aura radiating pure, terrifying fury.
"If you ever speak to her like that again, I will personally ruin your family's entire legacy," Tariq whispered dangerously.
Elena paled, yanking her arm back and fleeing the estate without another word.

Tariq turned to Chloe, his chest heaving, his eyes scanning her for any signs of distress.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice suddenly thick with emotion.
