Chapter 69 - The Vault of History

The past was a closed ledger, locked away in the vault of history. Every trial, every scar, every narrow escape at Harbor House and the North Pier had served its purpose, forging us into something unbreakable.

Harper leaned back against my shoulder, her hands resting over mine where I held her close.

“It’s quiet tonight,” she whispered, her voice carrying a profound sense of peace.

“The quietest it’s ever been,” I replied, resting my chin gently on her hair.

“Do you ever look back and wish things had been easier? That we hadn't had to fight so hard to get here?”

I tightened my embrace, feeling the warmth of her heart beating in perfect synchronization with my own.

“Not for a second,” I answered without hesitation. “If things had been easier, we wouldn't know the true value of what we built. Every obstacle was just another step leading us to this exact moment.”

She turned slightly within my arms, looking up into my eyes with a gaze that held the entire universe of our shared history.
