Chapter 46 - The Quiet After the Storm

Back at Raven Hill, the sunrise over the Ashport hills was one of the most breathtaking mornings we had ever witnessed.
The golden light poured through the conservatory windows, warming the parquet floors where little Poppy sat sketching a picture of a black cat wearing a tiny crown.
Evelyn sat by the fireplace, sipping her morning tea, watching us with a serene, knowing smile.
“I trust the Ashport rust-belts are a little cleaner this morning?” Evelyn asked dryly as Ronan and I walked into the room, holding hands.
“Sanitized and certified, Mother,” Ronan smirked, pouring himself a cup of black coffee. “Not a single ghost left standing.”
I walked over to the French doors, stepping out onto the stone balcony to breathe in the crisp, clean autumn air. The iron gates of the estate stood wide open, but the sense of peace inside the walls was absolute, unshakable, and permanent.
Ronan stepped out behind me, wrapping his strong arms around my waist, pulling me back against his chest as we watched the city of Ashport stretch out endlessly beneath us toward the horizon.
“So,” Ronan murmured softly into my hair. “What’s next on the agenda for the global syndicate queen? More financial audits? International tax reforms?”
May you like
I smiled, turning around in his embrace and wrapping my arms around his neck, looking up into his stormy gray eyes with absolute contentment.
“No more audits, Ronan,” I whispered, pressing my lips gently to his. “Just us, our family, and an empire that finally belongs to the light.”
