Chapter 26 - The New Foundation of the EmpireBy the following afternoon, Aegis Global had officially filed for voluntary bankruptcy liquidation, dropping all federal legal challenges against our shipping lanes and dissolving Harrison Cole’s shell companies into nothingness.
The victory was swift, clean, and absolute.
Back at Raven Hill, the heavy oak doors of the East Wing study were propped open to let in the crisp autumn breeze.
I sat at the mahogany desk, signing off on the final structural reorganization papers for Cain Logistics, transferring fifty percent of the corporate voting shares into a newly established trust bearing my name and Poppy’s.
Ronan walked into the room carrying two cups of hot black coffee, setting one down beside my paperwork before leaning back against the edge of the bookshelf, watching me with an amused, affectionate smile.
“You’re bleeding my empire dry, Mrs. Cain,” Ronan teased gently. “Giving a fifty-percent voting stake to an accountant from Ohio? My grandfather is probably spinning in his mausoleum.”
“Your grandfather built this empire on iron and blood, Ronan,” I replied, looking up from the documents with a serene smile. “I’m just teaching it how to survive in the light.”
He pushed away from the shelf, walked over, and pulled me up out of my chair, wrapping his strong arms securely around my waist. He buried his face in my neck, inhaling deeply.
“You didn't just teach it how to survive, Thea,” Ronan murmured against my skin. “You gave it a soul.”
Downstairs in the courtyard, we could hear the faint, happy laughter of little Poppy playing tag with the estate gardeners, her bright voice echoing freely across the manicured lawns.

The iron gates of Raven Hill were wide open, welcoming the world on our own terms. But inside those walls, surrounded by family, love, and absolute unyielding strength, we were untouchable.
And as the sun dipped below the Ashport horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold and fire, I knew that our story was only just beginning.
