Chapter 38 - The Return to Ashport

Our private Gulfstream touched down on the Raven Hill airstrip late the following evening, bathed in the soft, silver glow of a full autumn moon.
As the aircraft stairs descended, little Poppy came sprinting across the tarmac like a joyful little bullet, her arms wide open, shouting, “Mommy! Ronan! You’re back!”
I dropped my portfolio, dropped to my knees, and caught her in a crushing, desperate hug, burying my face in her dark hair as she giggled uncontrollably. Ronan walked up behind us, kneeling down to scoop both of us up into one effortless, powerful embrace, lifting us off the Ashport concrete.
Waiting by the base of the stairs with a warm thermos of tea and a contented smile was Evelyn, leaning on her mahogany cane, flanked by Uncle Marcus.
“I take it the Swiss didn't throw you in a dungeon?” Evelyn asked dryly as we walked toward the main estate house.
“On the contrary, Mother,” Ronan smirked, wrapping a protective arm around my shoulders. “They gave us the keys to the entire European banking grid. Your daughter-in-law is officially an international corporate mogul.”

Evelyn chuckled, her eyes sparkling with profound admiration. “I always knew the Cains needed more accountants and fewer trigger-happy enforcers.”
That night, for the first time in months, the entire family gathered in the grand dining hall not to strategize against an impending war, but simply to celebrate being together. The iron gates of Raven Hill stood wide open to the night air, but the true fortress we had built wasn't made of stone or steel—it was forged from absolute trust, shared survival, and an unbreakable love that nothing in this world could ever shatter.
