Chapter 30 - The Eternal Ledger

Back inside the North Side penthouse, the world outside faded away completely behind the reinforced glass walls.

The city lights twinkled like a million distant stars across the skyline, casting a warm, peaceful glow over the white oak floors and the quiet corners of their home. There were no shadows left to hide in, no secrets waiting to be uncovered, and no threats lurking in the dark.

Ethan and Maya stood together by the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the horizon slowly brighten as the first faint hues of dawn began to paint the eastern sky over Lake Michigan.

Maya looked down at her left hand, where the simple, brushed platinum band rested securely on her finger—a silent testament to a promise that had survived war, deceit, and time itself.

Ethan wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder as his hands came to rest gently over hers.

“The ledger is closed, my love,” Ethan whispered against her skin.

Maya smiled, closing her eyes and leaning back into the warm, unshakable strength of the man who had torn down an empire just to build a home with her.

“No, Dominic,” she corrected softly, her voice filled with absolute peace. “It’s just beginning.”
