Chapter 23 - The Garden in Bloom

By early June, the private rooftop garden of Vance Tower had exploded into a breathtaking sanctuary of vibrant green foliage, blooming white lilacs, and fragrant jasmine carried on the warm summer breeze. The city of Chicago hummed far below, completely at peace, while the high-altitude terrace was transformed into an intimate paradise reserved for the people who mattered most.

The guest list was small, consisting only of those who had walked through the fire and emerged unbroken: Ryan and Elena, a handful of trusted corporate loyalists, and federal liaison Miller, who had traded his tactical gear for a sharp navy suit.

At the center of the terrace, beneath a simple archway woven with white roses and ivy, stood Dorian. He wore a classic black tuxedo, his shoulders relaxed, his dark eyes fixed entirely on the glass doors leading from the penthouse.

The soft chime of the elevator signaled the arrival of the bride.

The heavy glass doors slid open, and Marin stepped out onto the slate tiles. She wore a breathtaking, elegant ivory silk gown that caught the golden afternoon sunlight, her step steady, graceful, and unhindered. Around her neck, hidden safely beneath the delicate lace fabric, hung the thin silver chain holding Daniel’s wedding ring—not as a ghost of grief, but as a silent blessing of resilience and love that bridged her past to her present. In her pocket rested the cracked wristwatch, a quiet talisman of the journey that had brought her here.

As she walked down the polished slate aisle toward him, Dorian felt the last remaining echoes of his guarded, solitary life dissolve completely. He wasn't a syndicate boss protecting a fortress anymore; he was simply a man standing in the light, ready to share his entire world.

Titan walked just a few paces ahead of her, wearing a custom white silk bow around his massive neck, carrying out his honorary duty as ring bearer with the dignity and solemnity of a true king. The Cane Corso trotted directly to Dorian, sat down at his master's side, and gave a low, contented rumble of approval as Marin finally reached the altar.
