Chapter 17 - Blood on the Catwalk
Lorenzo’s bullet grazed Matteo’s shoulder perfectly, throwing off his lethal aim just enough to spare Leo’s life. The bullet shattered the rusted metal railing instead, and Matteo ducked violently behind a heavy steel pillar for cover.
The gunfight on the ground floor raged violently, but Lorenzo ignored it entirely, sprinting up the rusted stairs three at a time. This was a battle strictly between brothers, a heavy blood debt that had been overdue for ten long years.
Lorenzo reached the catwalk, his heavy footsteps ringing sharply against the metal grating. Matteo lunged instantly from the dark shadows with a jagged, heavily serrated hunting knife, tackling Lorenzo aggressively to the floor. Lorenzo's pistol skittered over the edge, plunging into the chaotic darkness below.
They fought with primal, savage, undeniable brutality. Matteo was fueled entirely by a decade of festering resentment, striking with wild, completely unpredictable slashes. Lorenzo fought with cold, calculated precision, fueled entirely by his desperate, overwhelming need to protect his pregnant wife and his unborn son.
Matteo managed to slice a deep, ugly gash across Lorenzo’s ribcage, laughing maniacally as the warm blood rapidly stained his brother's crisp white shirt.

"I will take your throne, and then I will take your beautiful queen!" Matteo taunted sadistically, raising the heavy knife for a fatal, plunging strike to Lorenzo’s exposed throat.
Lorenzo caught his brother’s wrist mid-air, their muscles trembling violently as they locked in a desperate struggle of raw, unforgiving strength. Down below, Marcus had successfully secured Leo and was desperately trying to get a clear rifle shot at the catwalk, but the two brothers were moving too fast, dangerously entangled in the dim, flashing lighting. Lorenzo’s strength was incredible, but Matteo had the distinct advantage of downward leverage, slowly pressing the razor-sharp blade closer and closer to Lorenzo’s jugular.
