Chapter 16 - The Steel Mill Reckoning

The abandoned steel mill was a massive, rotting cathedral of rusted metal, broken glass, and decaying concrete. Freezing rain poured through the completely collapsed roof, creating a deafening, chaotic symphony as Lorenzo walked slowly through the center of the main bay. He appeared completely alone, armed only with a single, heavy pistol tucked into his tailored black suit.
High above him, standing on a rusted, precarious metal catwalk, Matteo stepped smoothly out of the shadows. He looked hauntingly similar to Lorenzo, possessing the exact same sharp jawline and piercing green eyes, but his face was deeply twisted by years of bitter hatred and untethered madness. Two massive, heavily armed men flanked him, holding a badly bruised and tightly bound Leo at gunpoint.
"You actually came alone," Matteo laughed, the deeply unsettling sound echoing eerily through the cavernous, wet space. "You have grown soft, little brother. Love has made you remarkably weak."
Lorenzo stopped walking, looking up at his brother with absolute, icy, unadulterated contempt. "I am not soft, Matteo. And I am certainly not alone."
Before Matteo’s brilliant but twisted mind could process the cryptic statement, a massive, deafening explosion rocked the entire northern wall of the mill. Hannah hadn't sent Lorenzo's men with him through the front gates; she had strategically sent them to flank the building through the forgotten underground drainage pipes she had discovered on the original city architectural blueprints.

Marcus and the elite loyalists poured into the building like a violent tide of black death, neutralizing Matteo’s hidden snipers with ruthless, terrifying efficiency. Heavy gunfire erupted in every single direction, lighting up the dark, rusted mill with blinding flashes of orange fire.
Matteo screamed in pure, unhinged rage, raising his pistol to execute Leo right on the catwalk. But Lorenzo was already moving, his reflexes incredibly sharp and deadly, firing precisely as he ran desperately for the metal stairs.
