Chapter 16 - The Ultimate Sacrifice
Isabella stared up at me with wide, completely terrified black eyes, desperately holding her bleeding hands up in pathetic surrender.
"Please, I will entirely wipe out the entire massive debt, I swear it!" she screamed hysterically over the helicopter blades outside.
"The miserable debt was entirely canceled the absolute second you cowardly targeted my little boy," I replied softly.
Before I could firmly pull the heavy trigger, the massive, chaotic sound of a hidden, secondary explosion rocked the hallway.
The floor violently collapsed beneath Enzo, sending the giant guard crashing heavily into the burning lower level.
Suddenly, a dozen heavily armed, elite cartel reinforcements violently flooded into the master suite from a hidden panic room.
They aggressively opened fire with massive, heavy automatic weapons, completely shredding the expensive walls of the bedroom.
Alessandro violently tackled me to the floor, heavily shielding my fragile body completely with his own massive frame.
"We are entirely pinned down!" Alessandro yelled loudly, firing his heavy weapon blindly toward the overwhelming cartel forces.
He looked deeply into my terrified eyes, and I instantly saw a dark, heartbreaking decision completely solidify in his mind.
He aggressively pulled a heavy smoke grenade from his tactical belt and forcefully pulled the metal pin with his teeth.
"When I violently charge them, you aggressively run directly for the back stairwell and do not look back," he commanded fiercely.
"Absolutely not!" I screamed loudly, grabbing his tactical vest with my trembling hands. "I am not leaving you here!"
"You have to survive to protect our innocent son, Catherine!" he roared, his deep voice cracking with absolute, raw love.
He violently kissed my mouth, a desperate, incredibly deep promise of eternal devotion, and threw the heavy smoke grenade.
Thick, blinding white smoke instantly completely filled the entire destroyed master suite.
Alessandro let out a terrifying, completely feral battle cry and aggressively charged directly into the overwhelming cartel gunfire.
He was violently drawing every single ounce of heavy enemy fire entirely away from my perfectly clear escape route.
My heart shattered entirely into a million pieces, but I absolutely refused to waste his incredibly brave, ultimate sacrifice.
I aggressively sprinted through the blinding smoke, practically flying down the hidden back stairwell of the burning mansion.
I burst violently out of the side door, aggressively jumping directly into the freezing, dark ocean water below.
I swam frantically toward our waiting tactical boats, completely blinded by hot, desperate tears and freezing salt water.
The massive waterfront mansion completely erupted into a violently bright fireball against the dark, terrifying night sky.
