Chapter 13 - The Bloody Ambush

The heavy, freezing rain continued to violently pour down around us, soaking the concrete shipyard in absolute darkness.

Alessandro stepped smoothly and aggressively in front of me, partially shielding my body from Isabella's calculating gaze.

"David Winters acted entirely alone, and he is permanently dead," Alessandro stated, his voice a low, terrifying rumble.

"The Romano syndicate owes your cartel absolutely nothing, and we will absolutely never pay a dead man's stolen debt."

Isabella's cold, mocking smile instantly vanished, replaced by a mask of pure, unadulterated demonic fury.

"Then you will both violently die right here on this wet concrete," she sneered, raising her gloved hand sharply.

Before her hand even reached its highest point, Alessandro moved with blinding, utterly lethal speed.

He drew his heavy weapon and fired a massive, deafening shot directly into the chest of Isabella's closest bodyguard.

The shipyard absolutely exploded into a terrifying, chaotic war zone of blinding muzzle flashes and deafening screams.

Enzo violently grabbed my tactical vest, forcefully throwing me behind the heavy steel engine block of our armored SUV.

High-caliber bullets aggressively rained down upon our vehicles, shattering the expensive bullet-resistant glass into a million tiny spiderwebs.

Alessandro was a terrifying, beautiful monster in the absolute center of the bloody chaos.

He moved systematically through the freezing rain, dropping heavily armed cartel mercenaries with flawless, lethal precision.

I crouched incredibly low behind the heavy tire, pulling the compact tactical handgun perfectly from my shoulder holster.

My heart was hammering so violently against my ribs that I could physically taste the metallic tang of adrenaline.

Suddenly, a massive, heavily tattooed cartel shooter managed to completely flank Enzo's heavily fortified defensive position.

The massive man raised his heavy automatic rifle, aiming it directly at the back of Alessandro's unprotected head.

I did not have a single microsecond to scream, hesitate, or desperately beg for a miracle.

I aggressively raised my trembling weapon, fully opening both of my eyes exactly like Enzo had strictly taught me.

I violently pulled the heavy trigger three consecutive times in incredibly rapid, deafening succession.

The massive cartel shooter violently dropped his weapon, clutching his bleeding chest before collapsing heavily onto the wet concrete.

Alessandro whipped around instantly, his dark eyes locking onto the dead man and then immediately shifting to me.

He saw the smoking gun held perfectly and steadily in my hands, and a look of absolute, terrified awe crossed his face.

The remaining cartel mercenaries suddenly realized their heavy numbers were rapidly and violently dwindling.

Isabella Santiago screamed a furious, cowardly order and desperately sprinted toward her waiting, heavily armored escape vehicle.

The massive red SUV aggressively tore out of the dark shipyard, blindly leaving her dying men behind in the rain.

Enzo rushed frantically to my side, his massive hands checking my body for any hidden, lethal bullet wounds.

"Are you hit, Queen?" the giant man asked urgently, his heavy voice cracking with genuine, deep concern.

"I am completely fine, Enzo," I breathed out, slowly lowering my hot, smoking weapon to the ground.

Alessandro ran over and pulled me violently into his broad chest, burying his wet face entirely into my dark hair.

I had successfully taken my very first human life to protect the absolute love of my life, and I felt no regret.
