Chapter 14 - The Abduction

The blinding flashbang completely incapacitated the two Russian mercenaries, leaving them stumbling blindly in the dark corridor.

Adrian ruthlessly executed both men with two incredibly precise shots, his expression a mask of pure, absolute death.

He wheeled himself aggressively over their bleeding bodies and threw himself through the shattered doorway of the safe room.

"Maya! Lily!" Adrian shouted desperately into the dark, smoke-filled bunker.

Maya emerged from the shadows, violently coughing and clutching her small daughter entirely against her chest.

"We are okay, Adrian, we are completely fine," Maya cried, rushing forward to grab his strong shoulders.

Adrian let out a heavy, shuddering breath of absolute relief, immediately checking Lily for any signs of injury.

"We have to move you to the secondary vault," Adrian instructed rapidly, keeping his weapon raised toward the doorway.

"They breached the primary defenses, and this room is completely compromised."

As he aggressively guided them back out into the chaotic, echoing hallway, the emergency backup lights suddenly flickered on.

Standing completely silently at the end of the long corridor was Viktor Volkov, flanked by four heavily armed lieutenants.

Viktor was a massive, terrifying mountain of a man, his face heavily covered in brutal, deep scars from a violent past.

"You killed my brother, Moretti," Viktor shouted, his thick Russian accent completely dripping with lethal venom.

"Marcus was a traitor and a coward, and he absolutely deserved to die on the floor like a dog," Adrian fired back coldly.

Viktor did not scream or rage; he simply raised a massive, specialized grenade launcher and aimed it directly at the ceiling above them.

"I do not want to kill you today, Adrian. I want you to live in absolute agony," Viktor stated entirely calmly.

Viktor fired the heavy explosive round directly into the structural support pillar above Adrian’s head.

The resulting explosion was completely devastating, bringing massive chunks of concrete and heavy steel beams crashing down.

Adrian desperately threw his upper body backward, but a massive piece of debris violently pinned his wheelchair to the ground.

Thick, suffocating dust completely blinded the entire hallway, making it entirely impossible to see or breathe.

"Adrian!" Maya screamed hysterically, trying to reach him through the violent storm of falling debris.

"Run, Maya! Take her and run!" Adrian roared, desperately trying to free his trapped wheelchair from the crushing weight.

Through the thick, terrifying smoke, Viktor’s massive shadow lunged forward, moving with terrifying speed.

Viktor did not go for Adrian; he completely bypassed the pinned man and violently ripped little Lily from Maya’s desperate grip.

Maya screamed in absolute, devastating horror, aggressively clawing at the massive Russian’s face, but he simply struck her down.

"Bring me the entire deed to the city, Moretti, or the little bird completely burns," Viktor laughed cruelly, disappearing into the smoke.

Adrian desperately screamed Lily's name, but the terrifying silence that followed confirmed his absolute worst nightmare.

The monsters had stolen his daughter again.
