Chapter 20 - THE QUEEN OF CHICAGO

Six months later.

The sun shone brightly over Lake Michigan. The Obsidian, completely rebuilt and more opulent than ever, was hosting a private event. There were no politicians tonight, no rival factions. Only the family.

Evelyn stood on the balcony overlooking the city. She wore a stunning white silk gown, a massive diamond resting on her left hand. The jazz band played a soft, upbeat melody inside. Chicago was thriving under their rule. The violence had dropped, the businesses were booming, and the Moretti-Carter syndicate operated with a polished, untouchable grace.

Lorenzo stepped out onto the balcony, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and pressing a kiss to her neck. "Mrs. Moretti. The guests are asking for the boss."

Evelyn leaned back into him, a genuinely happy, radiant smile on her face. The girl running from Cicero rent collectors was a ghost. The waitress who dropped wine on white linen was a distant memory. She was the Queen of Chicago, ruling an empire of shadows and light with the man she loved by her side.

"Let them wait a minute," Evelyn murmured, looking out at the glittering skyline. "I'm enjoying the view."

Lorenzo chuckled, a deep, rich sound. "It's all yours, Evie. Everything the light touches."

"Ours," she corrected him softly, turning around to pull him into a deep, lingering kiss. They had fought through hell, fire, and blood, and they had won. Total control, absolute loyalty, and an unbreakable love.

The house didn't just win. The house had finally found its home.
