Chapter 20 - Forever and Always (Happy Ending)

Five years later.
The sun was setting over Boston Harbor, painting the evening sky in magnificent shades of violet, orange, and deep crimson. The city hummed with peaceful, prosperous life far below.
Inside the sprawling, sunlit penthouse suite that now served as both their home and the crown jewel of their legacy, the atmosphere was filled with the soft, joyful sounds of domestic peace.
Mave stood by the kitchen island, laughing softly as she poured two cups of evening tea. She wore a comfortable cashmere sweater, her left hand—adorned with both her engagement ring and a heavy, matching platinum wedding band—catching the warm amber glow of the sunset.
From the adjoining living room came the sound of deep, rumbling laughter. Vincent sat on the plush white rug, playing building blocks with their two-year-old daughter, Elena, who had inherited her mother’s sharp, inquisitive eyes and her father’s unstoppable spirit.
"Dada, higher!" little Elena squealed, holding up a wooden block.
Vincent chuckled, stacking the block carefully on top of a wobbly tower. "Careful, sweetheart, or Mommy’s engineering department is going to audit our structural integrity."
Mave walked over, carrying the tea cups, a tender, loving smile gracing her lips. She set the cups down on a side table and sank gracefully to the floor beside Vincent, leaning her head against his shoulder.
Vincent wrapped his strong arm around her waist, pulling her close, while using his other hand to scoop up Elena and place her safely in his lap.
"Look at our empire, Mave," Vincent murmured softly, kissing the top of his daughter's head before pressing his lips gently against Mave’s hair. "No ledgers to hide, no enemies in the shadows, no wars to fight."
Mave closed her eyes, breathing in the scent of him—safe, warm, and entirely home. She reached out, intertwining her fingers with his, feeling the steady, unyielding beat of his heart.

"Just us," Mave whispered, her voice filled with absolute peace. "Just us, forever."
And as the city lights flickered on across the horizon, illuminating a skyline they had saved, protected, and ultimately conquered together, the shadows of the past finally faded away completely, leaving behind a brilliant, unbroken dawn of a truly happy ending.
