Chapter 18 - The Return to Boston

Three months later, the private jet bearing the insignia of Costa Global Logistics touched down smoothly on the sunlit tarmac of Logan International Airport in Boston. The crisp autumn air welcomed them back, carrying the familiar, invigorating scent of the northeastern seaboard.

They weren't returning as fugitives or targets, but as conquering heroes of a different kind—philanthropists, civic leaders, and the most respected power couple in the city.

As they stepped out of the aircraft, Leo was waiting by the tarmac with the Maybach, wearing a sharp new suit and sporting a wide, welcoming grin.

"Welcome home, boss. Welcome home, Ms. Mave," Leo greeted them warmly, holding the car door open.

"It's good to be back, Leo," Mave smiled, sliding into the leather interior, her left hand resting casually on the console, letting the brilliant diamond ring catch the cabin light. "How are the ports running?" smoother than ever, Ms. Mave. The new municipal contracts went through yesterday. Costa Global is officially the largest logistics employer in New England."

Vincent slid in beside her, closing the door as Leo moved to the driver's seat. The Maybach glided out of the private hangar and onto the highway, heading toward the newly renovated downtown corporate headquarters.

As they passed the grand Plaza hotel—the very place where their harrowing journey had begun a year ago—Mave looked out the window, watching the pedestrians walk by in peaceful ignorance of the violent underworld storm that had once raged beneath their feet.

Vincent reached across the seat, taking her hand and lacing his fingers securely through hers. "Thinking about where we started?"

Mave turned her head, looking into his deep, dark eyes, which were now entirely free of shadows, filled only with warmth and an unbreakable future. "I was thinking about how every single terrifying moment was worth it, because it brought me right here."

Vincent brought her hand to his lips, pressing a tender kiss against her knuckles. "And we're never looking back."
