Chapter 45 - The Morning of Choices

The sun rose over the eastern hills on a morning of crystalline brilliance, burning away the last traces of the midnight chill and bathing the estate in a warm, golden radiance. In the grand conservatory, the mahogany desk stood bathed in the steady light of late morning.

On top of the desk rested the blank sheet of paper from New Year's Eve—the one bearing their intertwined signatures beneath the single, unshakeable sentence: All debts paid in full. The future is unwritten.

Sloan and Raphael stood together by the tall arched windows, looking out over the sprawling green lawns, the newly planted orchard, and the winding road that led down to the quiet village. There were no encrypted ledgers left to audit, no emergency extraction orders waiting in the shadows, and no ghosts haunting the corridors of their home. There was only the gentle morning breeze, the distant chime of the village church bells, and the profound, beautiful weight of an entirely unwritten tomorrow.

Raphael turned to look at her, his dark eyes shining with quiet, absolute devotion. He pulled her close against his chest, their breath mingling in the cool, sweet air of the room.

"What do we write next?" Raphael asked softly, his voice a low, steady promise against her hair.

May you like

Sloan smiled, looking up into his eyes as she slid her arms around his shoulders, holding him close.

"Whatever we want," Sloan whispered, as the morning wrapped its bright, warm arms around the estate. "The page is entirely ours."
