Chapter 8 - The Rescue

The room descended into absolute chaos in a matter of seconds.

Vincent's men flooded the warehouse like a tidal wave of tactical precision.

Gunfire erupted, but I barely registered the noise because Vincent was already moving.

He didn't look like a calm businessman anymore; he looked like the devil himself.

He crossed the room with terrifying speed, disarming the leader and throwing him brutally against a concrete pillar.

Within two minutes, every single kidnapper was on the ground, groaning in pain and surrounded by armed guards.

Vincent didn't spare them a second glance as he rushed to my side.

He pulled a knife from his belt and sliced through the thick zip ties binding my wrists.

"Are you hurt?" he demanded, his hands frantically checking my arms and face for injuries.

"I'm okay," I choked out, the adrenaline finally crashing down and bringing tears to my eyes.

Vincent pulled me into his chest, burying his face in my hair as he held me tighter than I had ever been held.

"I'm sorry," he whispered fiercely against my temple.

"I swear on my life, no one will ever touch you again."

He picked me up entirely, carrying me out of the dusty warehouse as if I weighed nothing.

The rain was still pouring outside, but his body heat kept me completely warm.

When we got into his armored SUV, he refused to let me sit on the seat.

He kept me on his lap, his arms wrapped around me like a shield.

"I thought I lost you," he confessed, his voice rough and vulnerable.

I looked up at this powerful, feared man who was currently trembling slightly just from holding me.

May you like

"You didn't lose me," I promised, resting my head against his chest.

That was the exact moment I realized I was deeply, undeniably in love with him.
