Chapter 17 - The Counterattack

The next morning, we woke up with a renewed, fiercely cold determination to entirely end Marcus Romano’s violent reign of terror.
We sat at the small, wooden kitchen table, meticulously reviewing the highly incriminating financial photos I had brilliantly stolen from the casino.
"These detailed ledgers perfectly prove that Marcus is deeply involved in massive human trafficking and illegal weapons trading," Vincent explained, pointing to the columns of numbers.
"If we can secretly upload these specific files directly to the FBI's main server, Marcus will spend the rest of his miserable life in a federal supermax prison."
"But we absolutely need an active, secure internet connection to upload the massive files," I pointed out, entirely understanding the logistical nightmare.
"And Marcus has highly skilled hackers actively monitoring all of our known corporate network signatures."
I looked down at the table, my mind rapidly formulating a highly dangerous, completely audacious plan.
"What if we use a completely innocent, entirely unexpected connection to upload the data?" I suggested, looking up at Vincent.
"Tyler currently works as a lowly busboy at the downtown restaurant you officially own."
"His personal cell phone is entirely off the mafia grid, and he is absolutely terrified enough of you to follow our exact orders."
Vincent let out a dark, highly impressed chuckle, shaking his head in absolute disbelief at my strategic brilliance.
"You want to aggressively use your pathetic ex-boyfriend as a blind mule to completely destroy a massive crime syndicate?" Vincent asked, smirking proudly.
"It is the absolute perfect, poetic justice for the terrible way he treated me in the past," I smiled, feeling a rush of empowered adrenaline.
Vincent immediately agreed to the daring plan, rapidly making the necessary, highly encrypted preparations to execute our final strike.
I was no longer just the innocent, naive waitress who needed to be constantly protected from the harsh realities of the world.

I was fully acting as the fierce, untouchable queen of the DeLuca empire, aggressively participating in the complete destruction of our ultimate enemy.
We packed our limited gear and drove aggressively back toward the dangerous, chaotic city, ready to officially spring the final trap.
