Chapter 18 - The Trap is Sprung

The downtown restaurant was completely closed to the general public for a private, highly exclusive VIP event.

Tyler was frantically wiping down the expensive marble bar when Vincent and I walked aggressively through the front glass doors.

Tyler instantly dropped his cleaning rag, his face turning entirely pale with sheer, unadulterated terror at the sight of the ruthless mafia boss.

"Mr. DeLuca, I swear I haven't done absolutely anything wrong!" Tyler stammered desperately, holding his trembling hands up in pathetic surrender.

"Shut up and hand my fiancée your personal cell phone immediately," Vincent commanded coldly, his terrifying presence completely dominating the empty room.

Tyler frantically dug into his cheap apron and practically threw his unlocked phone directly into my waiting hand.

I quickly connected the highly specialized decryption drive to Tyler's phone, rapidly initiating the massive, secure upload to the FBI tip line.

"What exactly are you doing with my phone, Emily?" Tyler asked nervously, completely confused by the high-tech situation.

"I am using it to completely save this entire city, Tyler," I replied smoothly, aggressively typing in the final, secure command codes.

Suddenly, the front glass doors of the restaurant were violently shattered by a massive hail of high-caliber automatic gunfire.

Marcus Romano and a dozen of his heavily armed mercenaries aggressively stormed into the elegant dining room, completely surrounding us.

"Did you honestly think you could quietly sneak back into my city without me instantly knowing, Vincent?" Marcus sneered loudly, stepping over the broken glass.

Vincent deliberately stepped fully in front of me, completely shielding my body while secretly pressing a hidden button on his luxury watch.

"I absolutely knew you would aggressively follow us here, Marcus," Vincent replied with a terrifying, entirely calm confidence.

"I simply needed you to violently step into the open so the federal government could see exactly who you truly are."

The progress bar on Tyler's phone hit one hundred percent, confirming the massive upload was entirely successful.

I quickly dropped the phone onto the floor and crushed it violently under the sharp heel of my designer shoe, completely erasing our digital tracks.

Marcus’s cruel smile faltered entirely, finally realizing that he had just aggressively walked completely into a brilliant, highly orchestrated trap.

"Kill them both right now!" Marcus screamed frantically, desperately raising his own weapon.
