Chapter 10 - The Real Kiss

Vincent stared at the burning envelope in pure shock.
"What did you just do?" he breathed out.
"I'm choosing you, you idiot," I said, a massive smile breaking across my face.
"I don't want a safe life in the suburbs; I want the man who buys a restaurant just to defend my honor."
Vincent closed the distance between us in one long stride.
He grabbed my waist, pulling me flush against his hard body.
"Are you absolutely sure, Emily?" he asked, his dark eyes burning with intense possessiveness.
"Because there is no going back after this."
"I've never been more sure of anything in my life," I whispered.
This time, the kiss wasn't a performance for a crowded restaurant.
It was wild, passionate, and deeply intimate, carrying all the unspoken words we had been hiding.
My hands tangled in his thick hair as he backed me up against the heavy mahogany desk.
Every doubt, every insecurity Tyler had ever planted in my head was completely erased by the way Vincent touched me.
He loved every curve, every flaw, and every part of my soul.
Six months later, we returned to that same elegant Chicago restaurant.
This time, I wasn't wearing a cheap black uniform, and I wasn't holding a serving tray.
I was wearing a stunning diamond ring that matched Vincent's, sitting at his private table by the window.
As we drank our champagne, I noticed a new busboy clearing tables nearby.
It was Tyler, looking exhausted and thoroughly defeated.
He glanced our way, his eyes filled with immense regret before he quickly looked down in shame.
Vincent smirked, lifting my hand to kiss my knuckles gently.
"Looks like he finally found a job that suits him," Vincent chuckled.
I smiled, leaning across the table to kiss the most feared man in the city.
