Chapter 13 - The Vow Renewal

Two years later, under a clear, azure sky in the gardens of our Fairhope estate, music played gently across the lawn.

Dozens of friends, family members, and colleagues gathered under white floral arches for Lily’s eighth birthday celebration and our vow renewal ceremony.

Lily wore a beautiful white lace dress, running through the lawn with her cousins, her laughter ringing out clear and pure like silver bells.

My cousin Emily came up to me, hugging me tightly. "Nora, this place is breathtaking. You’ve created absolute magic here."

"Thank you, Emily," I smiled, looking around at the joyful faces. "It feels like a dream."

"Remember five years ago when you almost skipped my wedding because you didn't want to run into Gavin?" Emily laughed softly. "Look at where you are now."

"I remember," I nodded gently. "And I’m so glad I showed up."

Daniel walked over, looking handsome in a dark navy suit, and slid his arm around my waist. He kissed the side of my head, holding a glass of sparkling cider for each of us.

"Ready to make a toast, Mrs. Mercer?" he whispered warmly.

"Always," I smiled.
