Chapter 16 - The Trial of Blood

While the Caldwell security forces successfully repelled the remaining mercenaries from the estate, the true battle was just beginning to take shape.
Instead of hiding in the shadows, Adrian decided to bring the entire, ugly truth directly into the blinding light of the public eye.
Within forty-eight hours, Adrian utilized his limitless wealth and power to organize a highly secure, private federal tribunal in a locked downtown courthouse.
The room was completely sealed off from the press, heavily guarded by federal marshals and Caldwell security personnel.
Julian was dragged into the courtroom in heavy steel chains, his face bruised and pale, looking completely broken.
Arthur Sterling sat at the plaintiff's table, but this time, he was not fighting against Adrian for custody.
He was sitting beside Adrian, an unprecedented alliance of two billionaire empires united for a single, desperate cause.
The federal judge, a stern woman with a reputation for absolute incorruptibility, looked down at the massive piles of evidence on her desk.
"Mr. Caldwell, you are alleging a massive international conspiracy involving your own brother, a Swiss syndicate, and human trafficking," the judge stated, adjusting her glasses.
"I am not just alleging it, Your Honor, I am providing the absolute proof," Adrian replied firmly, standing up straight.
He projected the financial ledgers from St. Jude's orphanage onto the massive screen, alongside the bank transfers that Silas the hacker had uncovered.
Julian’s defense attorney stood up, sweating profusely under the intense glare of the entire courtroom.
"My client acted under severe psychological distress and immense financial duress," the lawyer stammered weakly.
"He never intended for the child to be harmed, he merely facilitated an illegal, albeit safe, adoption process."
Claire Caldwell stood up from the front row of the gallery, her presence commanding absolute silence in the tense room.
She walked slowly toward the witness stand, her eyes locked onto the pathetic, cowering form of her brother-in-law.
"You stole my soul for ten years, Julian," Claire said, her voice echoing with a haunting, beautiful clarity.
"You sat at my dining table, you held my hand while I cried, and you knew my baby was locked in a dark, cold prison."
Julian could not meet her gaze, burying his face in his chained hands and sobbing loudly into the quiet courtroom.
Arthur Sterling then stood up, placing a firm hand on the wooden table.
"I will testify to Congress, I will surrender my assets to the federal government, and I will plead guilty to illegal adoption," Sterling declared loudly.
"But only if the federal authorities use their absolute power to raid Victor Dragov’s shipping yard right now."
The judge looked at the overwhelming evidence, the broken family, and the two billionaires demanding immediate, lethal justice.

"I am signing the federal warrants right now," the judge proclaimed, banging her wooden gavel.
"May God have mercy on whoever is hiding in that harbor."
