Chapter 12 - The Swiss Connection

The silence in the grand study was so profound that Adrian could hear his own heart hammering violently against his ribs.

He looked down at the shattered glass on his desk, realizing that his nightmare was far from over.

"Deploy the alpha security protocol immediately," Adrian ordered, his voice transforming into the cold, calculated tone of a ruthless CEO.

"I want armed guards at every single door, window, and perimeter gate of this property."

"No one gets in, and absolutely no one gets out without my direct, explicit authorization."

Marcus nodded sharply, tapping a sequence into his earpiece to mobilize the dozens of heavily armed mercenaries already patrolling the grounds.

"What about Julian?" Marcus asked, crossing his arms over his broad chest.

"He is begging for a deal, claiming he can give us the names of the syndicate's top lieutenants if we let him walk away with a new identity."

Adrian let out a dark, humorless laugh that echoed chillingly off the library walls.

"Let him rot in the dark until he starves," Adrian spat, his eyes burning with absolute hatred for his own flesh and blood.

"He lost the right to negotiate the second he ripped my four-year-old son out of his mother's arms."

Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the study pushed open, and Noah stood nervously in the threshold.

The fourteen-year-old boy was wearing a pair of simple gray sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, looking incredibly small in the massive, opulent doorway.

"Is everything okay, dad?" Noah asked hesitantly, the word 'dad' still sounding fragile and new on his lips.

Adrian instantly softened his expression, masking his violent rage with a warm, comforting smile.

He walked across the room and placed a gentle, reassuring hand on his son's shoulder.

"Everything is perfectly fine, Noah," Adrian lied smoothly, guiding the boy away from the terrifying files on the desk.

"Marcus and I were just discussing some boring corporate business that can wait until tomorrow."

Noah looked up at Marcus, his sharp green eyes silently processing the heavy assault rifle strapped to the security chief's chest.

"Arthur Sterling used to have men with guns around his house too," Noah whispered, his voice trembling slightly.

"He told me it was to keep the bad men away from us."

Adrian felt a sharp pang of guilt in his chest, realizing that Sterling had actually been trying to protect the boy from the very syndicate Julian had unleashed.

"You never have to worry about bad men ever again, my son," Adrian promised, pulling the boy into a tight, protective embrace.

"I will burn the entire world to ashes before I let anyone take you from me again."
