Chapter 10 - The New Forever

One year later, the Bella Rosa Trattoria looked exactly the same.

But I wasn't carrying a tray anymore.

I sat at the best table in the restaurant, wearing a diamond ring that caught the candlelight.

Roman sat across from me, smiling as he cut a piece of steak for Max.

Leo was giggling and throwing pasta at his brother, while Mia sat perfectly still, demanding more cheese.

"Control your sons, Mrs. Voss," Roman teased, sipping his wine.

"They are your sons when they misbehave," I laughed, wiping sauce off Leo's cheek.

Our wedding had been small and private, heavily guarded but filled with love.

Roman had kept his promise.

He stepped away from the darker sides of his business, focusing entirely on legitimate shipping and real estate.

He traded his guns for board meetings, all to ensure his family was safe.

The pain of those fourteen months without my babies would never completely vanish.

But looking at my children, healthy and loud, surrounded by an impenetrable wall of love and security, the nightmare finally felt like a closed chapter.

Roman reached across the table and took my hand, kissing my knuckles.

"What are you smiling at?" he asked softly.

"Just thinking about the first time they spoke," I said, looking at the triplets.

"They knew exactly who I was."

Roman smiled, his eyes filled with absolute adoration.

"They always knew."

"And so did I."

We had found each other in the darkest of places, guided by three tiny voices.

And we were never letting go.
