Chapter 6 - THE RESCUE AND THE TRUTH

Gabriel moved with terrifying speed and lethal precision. Before Frankie Falcone’s mercenaries could react to the breaching explosion, Gabriel raised a custom tactical shotgun and fired two rapid shots. The blast took down the two guards instantly, sending them crashing against the concrete walls.
Frankie spun around in terror, grabbing Emma by the shoulder and pulling her in front of him as a human shield, aiming his handgun at Gabriel’s head.
"Freeze, Moretti!" Frankie screamed, his voice cracking with panicked desperation. "One step closer and I blow her brains out!"
Gabriel stopped ten feet away. His suit jacket was torn, his knuckles were bruised, and his eyes were dark with an absolute, unholy fury. Behind him, six of his top enforcers stepped through the smoke, weapons raised and laser sights locked onto Frankie’s chest.
"Put the gun down, Frankie," Gabriel said. His voice was unsettlingly quiet—a deadly hush that terrified Frankie far more than shouting ever could. "You crossed the line when you entered my home. You crossed it again when you put your hands on her."
"I have the upper hand!" Frankie yelled, tightening his grip on Emma's arm. "You care about this girl! I saw the way you looked at her on the feeds! Drop your weapons or she dies!"
Emma felt Frankie’s arm trembling against her neck. She looked past the barrel of the gun directly into Gabriel’s eyes. She saw no hesitation in him—only fierce, unwavering devotion.
"Gabriel," Emma said clearly, her voice surprisingly steady. "Do it."
Before Frankie could react, Emma drove her heel down with all her weight onto Frankie’s boot, while elbowing him hard in the ribs.
Frankie gasped in pain, his balance breaking for a fraction of a second.
That fraction of a second was all Gabriel needed.
Gabriel closed the distance instantly, grabbing Frankie’s wrist and twisting it upward. A sharp snap echoed through the corridor as Frankie’s wrist broke. Frankie shrieked in agony, dropping the weapon. Gabriel delivered a devastating left hook to Frankie’s jaw, knocking him flat onto the cold concrete floor.
Marco immediately rushed forward, pinning Frankie to the ground and cuffing his hands behind his back.
"Clear!" Marco called out.
Gabriel didn't even look down at the groaning mafia heir. He turned immediately to Emma, taking her face in his broad hands, his eyes scanning her frantically for injuries.
"Are you hurt? Did he touch you?" Gabriel asked, his breath heavy, his voice laced with rare vulnerability.
"I'm fine," Emma breathed, resting her hands against his chest. "I'm okay. The girls... they're safe in the panic room."
Gabriel let out a ragged sigh of relief, leaning forward to press his forehead briefly against hers. "Thank God," he whispered.
He stepped into the panic room. Sophia was sitting on the floor, holding her teddy bear, while Lily was leaning against the table. When Lily saw her father, her eyes lit up.
"Daddy!" she cried out clearly.
Gabriel dropped to his knees. Lily didn't wait for him to come to her. Gripping the edge of the wooden table, she pushed herself up onto her feet. Without her walker, without any support, she took three deliberate, steady steps across the room and threw her small arms around Gabriel’s neck.
Gabriel pulled both of his daughters into a tight embrace, burying his face in their hair as quiet tears slipped down his face.
Emma stood in the doorway, watching the beautiful scene unfold, her heart overflowing.
An hour later, the police and Gabriel's private security forces had secured the estate. Frankie Falcone and his surviving men were hauled away in unmarked vehicles—drawn into a legal and underworld trap that would ensure the Falcone family was dismantled permanently.
As dawn broke over the city, casting a warm golden light through the mansion's tall windows, Gabriel walked out onto the back terrace. Emma was standing by the balustrade, holding a warm cup of tea, watching the sun rise over the gardens.
Gabriel stepped up beside her, the cool morning breeze rustling his hair.
"Frankie gave up everything," Gabriel said quietly. "Federal prosecutors are moving in on Don Falcone as we speak. The threat to your family... to your mother... is officially over."
Emma closed her eyes, letting out a breath she felt like she had been holding for fifteen years. "Thank you, Gabriel."
"No," Gabriel said turning to face her completely. "Thank you. You saved my daughter, Emma. Not just tonight... but every day since you walked through that door."

He reached out, his thumb gently tracing her jawline. Emma looked up, her breath catching as she saw the deep, genuine love shining in the eyes of the man the world feared.
"Stay with us," Gabriel whispered softly. "Not as a maid. As part of this family."
