Chapter 6 - THE BOARDROOM INVASION

At 9:00 AM on Monday morning, the 40th-floor executive boardroom of Sterling Maritime Logistics on State Street was an echo chamber of cold ambition.
Richard Sterling sat at the head of the forty-foot rosewood table, surrounded by eight senior trustees.
"We execute Section 18 of the founder's charter," Richard announced, slamming a certified legal petition onto the table. "Mark’s public wedding was a circus. His wife allowed family heirlooms and custom property to be desecrated for social media amusement. Under our bylaws, custodial control over the harbor leases must transfer to senior management immediately."
Before the trustees could raise their hands to vote, the double mahogany doors of the boardroom were thrown wide.
SLAM.
Mark Sterling strode into the room, dressed in a sharp charcoal three-piece suit, his posture straight and unyielding.
Walking beside him was Brooke, holding her head high in an elegant ivory wool dress, flanked by Captain Marcus Vance and Senior Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Jenkins.
Richard sneered, leaning back in his executive chair. "Mark, you have no standing to disrupt an executive trustee session. And bringing your little bride into a corporate audit is an embarrassment."
"Sit down, Richard," Mark said, his voice flat, calm, and carrying an icy authority the room had never heard from him before.

Prosecutor Sarah Jenkins stepped forward, slapping a stamped judicial order bearing the gold seal of the United States District Court onto the rosewood.
"Richard Sterling, Arthur Cole," Jenkins announced coldly. "At 7:30 AM this morning, Chief Judge Morrison signed an emergency freeze order over your personal and commercial assets under the federal RICO Act."
