Chapter 19 - THE LAST ENEMY

The threat arrived at midnight.

No warning.

No message.

Just a black envelope placed outside the mansion gates.

Inside was one photograph.

Adeline.

Taken outside her childhood home in Ohio.

Years ago.

Enzo stared at it.

“Someone has been watching you for a long time.”

Adeline looked at the picture.

“Why?”

The answer came quickly.

Because power always had a reason.

The person behind the threat was Damian Voss.

A businessman with a dangerous reputation.

A man who had worked with Marco before his downfall.

A man who believed Adeline’s family fortune belonged to him.

Enzo wanted to handle it the old way.

Violence.

Fear.

Intimidation.

But Adeline stopped him.

“No.”

He looked at her.

“No?”

“You spent your whole life solving problems by making people afraid.”

She stepped closer.

“Don’t become the thing we fought against.”

That sentence stopped him.

Because she was right.

The old Enzo would have destroyed anyone who threatened him.

The new Enzo wanted something different.

Justice.

Not revenge.

They exposed Damian’s crimes publicly.

They revealed his connection to Marco.

They showed the world exactly who he was.

And for the first time...

A powerful man could not escape because of his name.

Damian was arrested.

The final enemy fell.

But after everything ended, Enzo asked Adeline one question.

“Are you happy?”

She looked around.

At the home they built.

At the life they created.

“Yes.”

“Even after everything?”

She smiled.

“Especially after everything.”

Because she understood something.

Her pain had not defined her.

It had revealed her.
