Chapter 14 - THE RETURN OF A LOST ENEMY

The photograph changed everything.

Enzo picked it up.

He stared at the face.

Impossible.

“No.”

Luca nodded slowly.

“I confirmed it.”

Adeline looked between them.

“Who is it?”

Enzo didn’t answer immediately.

Because saying the name made the past real again.

“Marco Marchetti.”

Adeline frowned.

“Who is that?”

Enzo’s voice became quiet.

“My uncle.”

The man everyone believed died fifteen years ago.

The man who disappeared after a family war.

The man who had a reason to hate Enzo’s father.

Luca continued.

“He has been operating outside Chicago for years.”

Enzo clenched his jaw.

“And Victor was working for him.”

“Yes.”

Everything finally made sense.

Victor was not the mastermind.

He was only a servant.

The real enemy had been waiting.

Watching.

Planning.

Adeline looked at Enzo.

“What does he want?”

Enzo stared out the window.

“The empire.”

“But he already had power.”

“No.”

Enzo shook his head.

“He wanted my father’s legacy.”

That night, Marco sent a message.

Not a threat.

An invitation.

Come to the place where your father died.

Enzo knew it was a trap.

Everyone knew.

But he also knew something else.

Marco would never stop.

Not until the truth was finished.

Adeline grabbed his arm.

“You’re not going alone.”

Enzo looked at her.

“This is my family.”

“And now it’s mine too.”

He stared at her.

Years ago, people stood around and watched while she was hurt.

Now she was standing beside him.

Not because she had to.

Because she chose to.

For the first time in his life, Enzo understood something.

Family was not always the people who shared your blood.

Sometimes...

It was the people who stayed when everything fell apart.

The next night, Enzo entered the abandoned warehouse.

Marco was waiting.

Older.

But still dangerous.

“You look like your father.”

Enzo stopped.

“You look exactly like the reason he died.”

Marco smiled.

“Still emotional.”

“No.”

Enzo stepped forward.

“Just finished being blind.”

Marco laughed.

Then he revealed something that shocked him.

“Your father didn’t die because of me.”

A pause.

“He died because someone inside this family chose power over loyalty.”

Enzo’s eyes narrowed.

“Who?”

May you like

Marco smiled.

“You already know.”
